Lazy Girl Blog, Post One, 2014

We're here!
We are here. Here is Orient, New York -- on the most eastern tip of the North Fork of Long Island. It's a lovely part of New York State -- farms and vineyards and the blue waters of Long Island Sound and
Peconic Bay washing up on beautiful beaches.
And who does not love -- Hydrangeas ...
This year we have rented a charming farmhouse in the village of Orient. It is conveniently located across the street from the Country Store. However, it is set back from road and completely private due to a row of hedges.
Let's Tour the House...
 The living room.
The chairs and sofas are placed so that
everyone has a view of the T.V.
A large dining table for our dinner parties.
The stairs to the second floor.
The kitchen, complete with a beautiful
silverware drawer.
Our bedroom on the first floor.
Those stairs are too steep for R.C.
The sun porch.
 The second-floor sitting room.
The upstairs bedroom.
My sister, Jeanne, (on the right) and her friend, Lauren Smith,
came over to unload our car.
Unfortunately, I hurt my back before leaving New York,
but it is on the mend now.
This house is across the street from ours.
The Country Store is also across the street.
This morning we walked over to the store to
buy The New York Times.
I had a scrambled egg and sausage and
Richard had a chocolate-chip cookie.
Then we sat for about an hour and people watched.
Richard made cogent comments to everyone to
came in, like,
"You're not allowed to wear shorts in there!"
He is campaigning to become the
unofficial mayor of Orient.
One guy drove up in this 1952 MG.
Another 80-year old guy rode up on the
easy-to-get-on bike.
Brilliant, je pense.
Iconic symbol of summer in the country.
Later we went over to Jeanne's house.
Her friends had brought her a pie.
This was what was left of it.
We all had a piece.
Lunch today was at the Blue Canoe.
 Oyster boy tackles some locals.
Oysters, that is.
Light and delicious.
Kind of Japanese themed.
Mochi ice cream for dessert.

See you tomorrow!

  3. I am telling you, this land lady is a good hostess, well organized, nice things ...I only had to move a few things for decor purposes, ladies.
